Whilst studying for her M.A. Art and Social Practice,

Mary Carol explored the art of stick weaving.

It quickly became apparent that this versatile art form was fun, accessible to all, and could create a very sociable atmosphere.

Initially Mary Carol used wool for her weaving, but soon found other media were just as versatile, such as cotton, string, embroidery thread, fishing line, paper, fabric and used plastic bags.

Stick weaving is a fun way to recycle

and create something new.
